THE WAY STATION IDT SERVANTS 4 HIM
THE WAY STATION 61722 Commercial St Lead by: Pastor Steve Cook The Way Station is one of our local community ministries that provide food for those in physical need with the truth of the Gospel message to meet the spiritual needs. Our VCC Youth Ministry helps the Way Station in their work by collecting canned foods all year long and by serving food to those in need at the ministry during Thanksgiving week.
IDT (International Discipleship Training Center) Vicente Guerrero Lead by: Pastor Rance Cook Website: http://www.idtmissions.org/idtbaja/ VCC has been involved with IDT for over 5 years in support and partnership in serving and sharing the gospel to the Mexican people. VCC has built 2 homes over the past several years for 2 different families in need. The homes are constructed from 2x4's and plywood with a concrete slab. In the summer of 2007 we not only built a home, but we adopted the family the home is for. We support this family monthly and stay in continual contact with them. We help make sure that the children are all in school and given the best chance of gaining an education and being able to gain the hope of some day moving out of poverty. The children are also educated at least weekly in Bible school headed up by a wonderful local missionary Elia. We continued the work in the summer of 2008 by completing repairs and upgrades to the house including electrical and insulating the inside of the home. We held a Vacation Bible School for the children at Elia's house at the same time repairs were being completed. Due to economic struggles in the States during the end of 2008 and 2009, we have not been able to go back, however we continue to stay in contact and support our Mexican family.
Servants4Him Guatemala
VCC has partnered with Servants4Him for several years. Here is a description of the ministry from their website: Serving Jesus by Doing Good Servants 4 Him (S4H) is a non-profit , 501(c)(3), mission organization that uses appropriate technologies and education to open doors to explain the good news of Christ Jesus, the gospel, in developing countries. We are currently using Bio-sand water filters, improved wood burning stoves, dry composting latrines, and health and sanitation education as tools for evangelism. S4H is currently working in Guatemala and hopes to expand our outreach to other parts of the world. S4H works with churches, mission organizations, and missionaries to equip them with the tools and education necessary implement programs using the technologies mentioned above. We believe the local church is uniquely positioned to help people in their communities address health issues like: clean water; reduction of smoke from open cooking fires, etc. When the local church is involved in meeting the physical needs of the community there are many opportunities to address spiritual needs; S4H call this good deeds evangelism. Detailed information on technologies, projects, and the work our missionaries are doing within this web site. |
