The Men’s Ministry of Valley Community Chapel focuses on four main areas in the lives of the men of our church: Service, Leadership, Administration, and Mercy. Each event, lesson, or project we embark on takes into consideration at least one of these elements. The cornerstone verse for this ministry is Proverbs 27:17 "As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend."
We believe that by focusing on, and training up men in, these elements that we can create a church that is Christ centered, inwardly strong, and outwardly focused.
The Men’s Ministry has a one main event a year where the leadership of the church gets together and teaches on principles of the Bible that we feel are essential to our men’s growth and maturity as Christians. Much of the teaching in these events is done in interactive and discussion formats so that in fellowship we can not only address problems that men are having, but also hear and be attentive to our brothers’ needs.
In addition to strong biblical teaching, these events offer excellent food, awesome musical worship, lots of time for fellowship, quite relaxation, and some long overdue pampering at one of our local spas. The emphasis at these events is to relax, refocus, and realize who Christ is in our lives and what place He has for us in His great plan.
These are a relatively new addition to VCC. These are quarterly get-togethers where the men hear from not only the church leaders, but also guest speakers. These are meant to be relaxing but informative afternoons where the guys get together, do a little barbecuing, and learn about what it means to be a man of Christ.
Each seminar is dedicated to one of the four emphases of the men’s ministry: Service, Leadership, Administration, and Mercy. The speakers at these events will show the men how to apply that seminar’s topic to various aspects of their lives. These aspects will include areas such as work, fatherhood, being a good husband, brotherhood, and so forth. The idea is to integrate God’s Word into all aspects of our lives and to prompt a daily walk with Him.
Every second Saturday of the month we get together at 8:00 at VCC to enjoy a good breakfast, revel in each-other’s fellowship, and learn more about what the Lord would like to see in our life. The morning begins in worship. Either by one of our fine musicians here at VCC or by an extended time of prayer and thanksgiving. Then after filling our hearts, we fill our stomachs with a menu that switches from week to week according to the suggestions and talents of our men and volunteers respectively. Finally we fill our minds with an interactive lesson on a chapter of the bible by Dr. Trent. These lessons follow verse by verse through a given book of the Bible. Bring your Bible and be prepared though, because these are interactive studies where you will get the chance to contribute, ask questions, and share with the men of the church. If you get a chance, listen to some of the recordings of these sessions here on this page.
The Men’s Ministry is an ever growing, ever changing element of VCC that is focused on meeting the needs of its membership. New ideas, events, and challenges are being constantly added to and expanded on here at VCC. If you have any comments, suggestions, or praise reports about the Men’s Ministry feel free to contact Dr. Trent or any of the other Men’s Ministry leaders.
